In late 2025, Nomad the Label informed me of an issue they were experiencing with their current bundle builder solution (provided by the app MOD Bundles).

The client was happy with the user interface provided by MOD Bundles but wanted seperate line items in the checkout with a discount applied instead of the line items bundling into a single fixed-cost bundle.

Due to an integration with their returns app, it was an issue for the client that a discount did not appear on each line item in the order.

The offer advertised was more of a quantity-based discount anyways so it made sense to forgo the fixed-cost bundle approach and use a combination of a cart builder along with a custom discount function.

The brief was to recreate the user interface as it currently was but with the items added to the cart as seperate line items each with the discount clearly attached to it.

Within less than 24 hours, I recreated the app interface, building it directly into a custom section that the client could use within their store + created/deployed the discount that would apply the correct discount (but only to line items added using the bundle builder).

The client appreciated the fast turnaround.

Now that the feature is integrated directly into the theme, we have full control over the source code and with the custom discount function, the client can safely delete the app and rely on the custom solution until the next time they want to create a new bundle style.

Most importantly for the client, each line item clearly has the discount applied to it - visible in both the cart for the user as well as the order in the admin.
